January 31, 2006 MBC Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Building With Picture Display Baltimore, MD-UMBI's Medical Biotechnology Center (MBC) is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the opening of its facility at 725 West Lombard Street. A new photo exhibit is now on display in the building lobby showing the events leading up to the renovation of the old Hutlzer's warehouse building to create the present-day MFR building. In addition, the display includes a brief history of MBC and a summary of where it is today. MBC, founded in 1986, is celebrating its own 20th Anniversary. ### Celebrating our 20th anniversary year, UMBI is Maryland's premier biotechnology research institute within the University System of Maryland and was established in 1985. The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) consists of five major research and education centers and is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of biotechnology. UMBI’s centers of research include: CARB, the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology located in Rockville; CBR, the Center for Biosystems Research located in College Park; and COMB, the Center of Marine Biotechnology, MBC, the Medical Biotechnology Center, and IHV, the Institute of Human Virology, all located in Baltimore.
