The study of pathogenic biological agents and interactions with their hosts is an intense area of interest and research. The pathobiology program promotes a comparative, multidisciplinary approach to pathogenesis that integrates research on pathogen behavior and plant and animal defense against parasites, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. There are a variety of research interests being pursued in the areas of biological control strategies, plant defense and stress responses and signal transduction underlying microbial pathogenesis.
