How should I store my GeneChip arrays?
GeneChip arrays should be stored at 2 to 8 C The arrays should not be frozen.
How should I ship my RNA samples?
We recommend for the samples to be shipped overnight on dry ice. Once the samples arrive at our facility they will be checked for RNA integrity. We will not be responsible for the quality of the RNA samples if they are sent any other way.
Where should I send my samples?
Please send samples to:
Alvaro Godinez Microarray Core Facility UMBI / CARB 9600 Gudelsky Drive Rockville, MD 20850
How much RNA does a GeneChip experiment need?
A GeneChip experiment requires 5g of total RNA. However we request for the investigators to provide at least 6g of total RNA. We use 5g of RNA for the GeneChip experiment and the remainder amount is used for assessing the quality of the RNA samples.
What happens if my RNA does not pass the Core Facility's quality controls?
If a sample does not pass our quality controls, the investigator will be contacted by email and consulted on how to proceed. Samples that are resubmitted will be charged a fee of $5 per sample to cover for the use of the Agilent's Bioanalyzer.
Can a GeneChip array be re-used?
No, GeneChip arrays cannot be re-used.
Do I need Affymetrix Software to analyze my results?
The raw data files (*.exp, *.dat, *.cel, *.chp, *.rpt) require the Affymetrix Microarray suite software. However, the Single Array Analysis Files and the Comparison Analysis Files are
